PARIS OLYMPICS 2024 TAILORING TEAM USA

Thursday 25th July 2024: Ahead of the Opening Ceremony, Ralph Lauren, Official Outfitter of the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Teams, provides behind-the-scenes access of The Team USA Welcome Experience to witness the tailoring process involved in bespoke fittings for each athlete.

The 2024 Games mark the ninth time Polo Ralph Lauren has been proud to dress the nation’s best and brightest athletes, providing Team USA with the Opening and Closing Ceremonies Parade Uniforms and a collection of Villagewear for the Paris 2024 Games.

1,000 Team USA Olympic and Paralympic athletes, coaches and staff go through The Welcome Experience over the course of 17 days whereby 14 pieces of apparel and accessories for the Opening and Closing Ceremony uniforms are specifically tailored to each individual person. Each athlete requires up to a 90 minute fitting session where a team of tailors have up to a further 90 minutes per athlete to complete the alterations, as the item is then delivered to the athlete the next day.

The Team USA Collection draws inspiration from the dynamic and vibrant host city of Paris and the rich heritage of Olympic sport.

The 2024 Opening Ceremony uniform is a distinctly modern take on a tailored look, featuring a classic tailored single-breasted wool blazer with red and white tipping and a striped oxford shirt, unexpectedly paired with a tapered jean and a classic suede buck shoe. The 2024 Closing Ceremony uniform is defined by a sporty moto-style jacket paired with white denim and a Polo shirt from the brand’s custom Create Your Own program. Each item in the uniforms is proudly manufactured in the United States.
